Projects of Sarah's Bag Ladies
There are many ways to get involved with the work of Sarah's Bag Ladies (SBL). Below is a list of some of the current ongoing projects in which you can become involved, either by joining us or by doing the work right where you are.
NOTE: We welcome participation at any level.
-
COLLECTING/PREPARING BAGS: at this time, we do not accept unprocessed bags.
-
Those wishing to donate bags are welcome to prepare their bags or to join us at an event where were are processing bags.

-

-
NOTE: The minimum processing of a bag is to carefully fold a
clean, untorn bag lengthwise and cut off the bottom and
handles. Then it can be folded and placed into a shoebox or
stacked in another bag to donate to us.
-
-
CUTTING BAGS INTO LOOPS:
-
After clean and untorn bags have been folded lengthwise, cut off the
bottom and handle and discard. -
Cut folded bag into 1" strips and set aside.

CONNECTING LOOPS AND MAKING 'PLARN BALLS':
-
CROCHETING MATS
-
Click HERE for downloadable printable instructions on how to crochet a mat.
-
The basic gist of what we ask is that mat is 3' wide by 6' long with a strap to tie it up.
-
You may use whatever size needle is comfortable for you; our crocheters' preferences range from a "J" hook to a "Q" hook.
-
Feel free to make your mat all one color, rows of color, or multi-colored.
-
If you need 'plarn' to make mats, let us know! We have plenty.

-
TEACHING OTHERS TO CROCHET
-
Do you know how to crochet and have the time and patience to teach others?
-
We are working to establish "SBL Crochet Clubs" on the UT-Arlington Campus
and at Salvation Army Housing facilities. -
CONTACT US if you are interested in helping in this way.
